Is your baby
ready to eat semi-solid food? We might assume that feeding
is needed to simply provide a baby with the nutrients it needs,
so it can grow physically. Well, that is part of it. But when
we put our tot’s Baby Einstein bib on him or her, there
is more involved. When we feed the baby properly, trust is
established between the parent and the baby. Whether or not
we live in Amish
Country In Ohio, the feedings of mushy peas and apricots
can create a bond with the child that will last a lifetime.
In fact, how we interact with the child can even affect his
or her brain development!
Following some basic guidelines can
improve your baby’s mealtime:
1. Bottle basics. Besides milk, bottles
are perfect for juices and even water. Whether or not you
live in Amish
Country Inn Berlin Ohio, make sure that your child does
not hold a bottle while walking around the house. If the child
falls, it could result in an injury. Also, never let your
baby fall asleep while drinking from a bottle containing juice.
The juice could sit in the mouth for a lengthy time, resulting
in tooth decay.
2. Starting with soft foods. Before
your tot is seven-months-old, put a Baby Einstein bib on him
or her, and give a tiny amount of soft food, on the end of
a spoon. In fact, as early as six-months-old, babies can begin
to feed themselves. Allow them to pick up small amounts of
soft food, such as banana, baby peas, carrot slices, and mashed
potatoes. Later, when your baby starts eating with a spoon,
put sticky foods on it, such as mashed potatoes. You can even
give your child a little milk in a cap, at roughly the age
of six-months.
3. No no’s. Here are some foods
that you should refrain from giving your infant, whether you
live in ***Amish County In Ohio or another county:
• Do not feed your child honey
during the first year of his or her life. It may seem harmless,
but in fact it contains a substance that can be harmful or
even fatal to infants.
• Until your child become six-months-old, refrain from
giving him or her nitrate or foods containing nitrate and
water. Some examples include beets and spinach. Your baby’s
body may transform the nitrates into nitrites, which are harmful.
• For those parents living in Amish County In Ohio or
any other county, it is recommended that you not feed your
child foods such as oranges, tomatoes, and pineapples, until
he or she is one-year-old. The high amount of acid in them
could cause damage to the tissues of your child’s mouth.
4. Timing is everything. It is important
to control the timing and frequency of your child’s
eating, regardless of whether you live in Amish County In
Ohio or somewhere else. By the time children become one to
two-years-old, the rate at which they grow, slows significantly.
This results in a dramatic decrease in their appetites. On
the other hand, older infants and toddlers might be ready
to be introduced to the world of snacks. Place snacks on a
small table where they can serve themselves snacks whenever
they are hungry between meals. Likewise, place prepared foods
on the table before babies and toddlers are in their chairs--wearing
their Baby Einstein bibs and ready to dig in. Whether you live in Amish
Holmes County Ohio or another location, make sure to use
follow some basic guidelines and use a Baby Einstein bib when
feeding your baby. Mealtimes will become the very best times
of the day! |
