First time parents get too excited to teach and train their babies to become the best. But before you teach them math and science, you have to understand that normally, children have particular interests at certain points in their lives.
But when do we teach them what? Is it alright to let an infant watch a Baby Einstein Video ? It is easy to spot changes in your child as he turns one. At twelve months he is officially a toddler. At this stage, your child start to have a mind of his own, starts to move around and tests your endurance and patience.
Since it is at this age that he starts to discover new tings, it is important that parents are around to assist him. Here are some of the things parents should watch out for:
- One year olds are fond of exploring the things around him so do not force him to sit in front of the monitor to watch Baby Einstein DVDS. Let him move around and explore the things around him. For this, you need to child proof the house. Remove anything your child is not supposed to be putting his hands on like fragile and sharp objects. Find out how you can child proof your home to make sure it is safe for both you and your child.
- His senses are also on the works at this stage particularly his sense of touch. Allow him to feel different textures. Introduce to him what is soft, rough and hard. You can use some pointers found in Baby DVDs to help you generate ideas on what approach to use.
- Your one year old also knows that something hidden is not lost. You can play with him by hiding some of his toys and letting them find it. They also want to repeat things over and over again. After discovering how a box opens and closes, he will want to repeat the act again and again. Help him with it. It is a good way for them to familiarize how it is done.
- This is also a good time to introduce the different shape to a child. The Baby Einstein Products has great ideas on how to introduce new things to a child. You can apply a technique that works for your child. You can use a box with puzzle shapes. Make sure that the size you have chosen is fitted for his age. Don’t give him toys designed for three year olds because it may have removable parts that can choke your child when swallowed.
- You can also start to make him understand what no means. If he is playing with something he is not suppose to play with, say no and remove it gently from his hand. It could be the Baby Einstein Videos you have been saving once he gets older. Give him another toy to play with to take his attention away from the DVD.
These are just some of the things you can teach your child at one year old. Remember, be patient. One year olds and toddlers in general are a handful.
